StarCam® SG100 is a fully autonomous star tracker that provides accurate spacecraft attitude estimates at 100Hz, which are internally filtered to estimate spacecraft angular velocities. State-of-the-art electronics, software and packaging deliver a robust 3-axis attitude determination system with precise arc second pointing.  Equivalent angular random walk values of estimated inertial rates are comparable to high-end gyros. StarCam SG100 is a highly reliable, accurate, compact, low weight and efficient “Stellar Gyroscope.”

StarCam SG100 derives the spacecraft attitude based upon its orientation relative to the stars. Proprietary star identification techniques and novel attitude estimation algorithms provide continuous estimates of spacecraft orientation and angular velocity under diverse operating conditions.

Built to withstand severe radiation environments, StarCam SG100 leverages an advanced CMOS active pixel sensor (APS) detector to offer a higher degree of radiation tolerance than a charge-coupled device (CCD). The APS detector enhances the compact, low-weight and power efficient design of StarCam SG100.

Designed for a wide range of applications, StarCam SG100 offers high operational flexibility and is fully programmable. Software updates easily modify frame rate, output format, gate arrays, configuration operational protocol and allow for automatic in-flight calibration.

StarCam SG100 employs a large optic aperture to minimize signal-to-noise-ratio degradation under end of life conditions. Robust against solar flare and false star objects, proprietary algorithms manage radiation events. The system is tolerant to single event upsets and is latch-up immune.
